At the end of last year I was lucky enough to be involved in the creation of Hanna’s second printed version of their online magazine. I was asked to create a cover design and lay out the internal text and illustrations.
Short but sweet, this dinky A5 volume focuses on the subject of eating disorders, written by and for young women. It’s extraordinarily powerful stuff and as such, I wanted to create a design that made the text the focus.
By highlighting particularly shocking paragraphs with large emboldened text, I helped to draw the reader’s eye in. The use of a particular font helped to keep the whole document on-brand, whilst maintaining a nice consistency and flow throughout. Illustrations were used in a more dramatic way, covering double-page spreads.
